I want to assess the registrar’s consultations
Use the Consultation Rating Scale |
|
What is it? This tool consists of paired opposite statements about how well things were done in a consultation. Who developed it? This scale is widely available on UK GP VTS websites. I have seen it attributed to Pendleton on the GPNotebook website, but no-where else! How is it done? The rater puts a mark between the 2 statements as to where they would rank how well that task was done in the consultation seen on video. It is intended for use in videoed consultations, but would work as an aide-memoire in directly observed consultations as well. What does the supervisor do? The supervisor looks for how well the skills listed were demonstrated and helps the registrar find alternative ways of doing them. Practice tips Both supervisor and registrar fill out the form and compare notes afterwards. Explore any differences in assessment. Further Information Contact Tim Senior
