WentWest is a unique organisation. As a Regional Training Provider (RTP) we offer the Australian General Practice Training program (AGPT) to General Practice registrars in the Western Sydney region. As a provider of Division of General Practice services we are able to offer education, support and networking activities to General Practice in our divisional area. All of this, complemented by our close relationship with the Department of General Practice at the Western Clinical School of the University of Sydney, makes WentWest the first, truly integrated provider to General Practice in Australia.
The Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) has compiled the following factsheets regarding changes to health reform and the transition to Primary Health Care Organisations (PHCOs):
WentWest is now offering a grant of up to $500 per Registrar per training year towards a post graduate diploma (or similar), relevant to their GP training. To find out more, contact your Medical Educator.
Due to the overwhelming number of referrals and the limitations in funding, referrals for General ATAPS have been capped at five referrals per GP per month. If GPs do need to refer beyond the monthly limit a request will need to be sent to WentWest in writing to justify reasons. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Referrals for non-general ATAPS continue as normal. For more information please contact WentWest on (02) 8833 8029 or email support@wentwest.com.au
If your practice is overwhelmed by the number of patients with diabetes, WentWest can help you set up a diabetes clinic. Your Area Service Coordinator (ASC) can provide training, support and resources to GPs and their staff. To find out more, speak to your ASC or call (02) 8833 8029.
An online version of the 2010 MBS Item Numbers commonly used in General Practice, is now available on our website, click here or go to the Practice Support section under General Practice Services. To obtain a hard copy version for your desk, contact your ASC or phone (02) 8833 8000. If you have received a set previously, please discard the inserts but retain the blue plastic folder as it can be reused.
