On Saturday 22nd October, WentWest hosted the annual Western Sydney Primary Health Care Conference at Novotel Rooty Hill. The event was an opportunity for local health professionals including GPs, psychologists, dietitians and community health workers to attend educational workshops on important health issues impacting the region including cultural awareness, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault.
This year’s conference also offered the 200 professionals in attendance an
opportunity to see working examples of how WentWest, the newly appointed Western Sydney Medicare Local is working through GPs to better connect patients into local health services, including community support organisations, allied health professionals and hospitals.
The conference culminated with the official launch of the Western Sydney Medicare Local by Professor Stephen Leeder, Chair of the Local Health District for Western Sydney.
Greenway MP, Michelle Rowland was also in attendance to support WentWest as the new Medicare Local commenting the organisation will deliver the best locally-run option to help better link local primary health care services and improve local services.
