I want to assess the registrar’s consultations on video

 

There are 5 tools you can use

These tools all cover similar areas about assessing the consultation. It might be useful to check them all out and use the one or two you feel most comfortable with, or you could use them all, as they have slightly different focuses.

 

As with all the tools on the website, it is best to use these tools as a discussion starter with the registrar about how their consultations are going.

 

1. Consultation Feedback Form

This is a checklist and score card for different phases of the consultation.

 

2. Cambridge Calgary Skills Log

This is a longer checklist and scoring card based on the phases used in the Cambridge-Calgary consultation model.

 

3. Consultation Rating Scale

This is a visual analogue type rating scale of different aspects of the consultation.

 

4. Consultation Critique Sheet

This is a form to fill in what was done well and what could be improved about different aspects of the consultation

 

5. Videotaped Consultation and ECT Debrief

This is a tool for a session looking at 5 or more registrar consultations and is designed to be used in an ECT visit, but would also be useful for a supervisor watching their registrar.
