Use the DISQ Feedback tool

What is it?

This is a set of questions which are helpful in interpreting and assessing your registrar’s Doctor’s Interpersonal Skills Questionnaire (DISQ) results.

Who developed it?

DISQ was developed by Dr. Michael Greco and is run by the Client Focused Evaluation Program. This tool for its interpretation is included in the GPET Assessment during training handbook

How is it done?

All registrars will do DISQ during their basic term. After completion the registrar will be given results which compare them with their peers. These questions will help pick out what the registrar did well and what they could improve. Go through them together in a tutorial using these questions.

What does the supervisor do?

Help the registrar interpret the results and help the registrar discover strategies of improving their communication skills.

Practice tips

The registrar’s feedback should include papers on interpreting the results together with indications about what communication skills strategies are involved. Use this as well.
