I want to do a global assessment of the registrar
Use the Supervisor Report form |
|
What is it? This is a tool allowing a rating by the supervisor of the registrar across a range of attributes and allows identification of areas of strength and areas for improvement. The tool is used to provide systematic feedback to the registrar. Who developed it? This tool is provided in the GPET Assessment during training manual. How is it done? The supervisor rates the registrar on a scale from 1-7 using their knowledge and experience, perhaps gained from other assessment tools. The areas covered are: · Clinical Skills · Procedural skills · Communication · Practice Management · Social/Personal The supervisor then identifies areas of strength and areas for improvement. What does the supervisor do? As described above, the supervisor rates the registrar, but the most crucial part is feeding back to the registrar what the assessment shows. Practice tips Ask the registrar to assess themselves using the same form and compare results - any differences are good discussion points and it encourages self reflection in the registrar. Further Information See the introductory notes or contact Tim Senior
NOTE - Wentwest has introduced a similar method of providing feedback to registrars dubbed the CHAT session. This form could be useful in formulating this feedback, but equally may duplicate some of the assessment process.
