I want to assess the registrar’s sense of wellbeing
Use the Measure your Wellbeing questionnaire |
|
What is it? This tool allows a registrar to score themselves in their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and identify factors which impact on this in their environment, relationships and activities. Who developed it? This was developed by Dr. Hilton Koppe, a senior medical educator with North Coast GP training, who has an interest in GP wellbeing. My thanks to Hilton for allowing this tool to be used on TREAT. How is it done? The registrar scores themselves in the table on each of the items. For each item there is space to show how they change before, during and after work and in leisure time. Scores go from +2 to –2, and can be totaled across areas. What does the supervisor do? The supervisor can discuss the importance of looking after yourself, and discuss individual scores with the registrar. Discussion points might include: · what features are protective of wellbeing? · what features might worsen health? · What should be preserved in your current situation? · What things could be improved, and how might that be done?
Practice tips Both registrar and supervisor do the questionnaire and discuss each others results. This could be threatening, but does role model good practice for the registrar. Further Information See instructions included with the tool or contact Tim Senior
